in the class function we use return *this; for get itself pointer
so maybe can use for this

hge->Effect_Free(snd);
hge->Texture_Free(tex);
hge->Texture_Free(quad.tex);

becomes

hge->Effect_Free(snd)->Texture_Free(tex)->Texture_Free(quad.tex
)

in one statement but in some cases will be long.

just an idea for share , thx

So thank you Haaf, without your library I probably wouldn't be doing what I love and getting paid for it!]]>
using nintendo's characters http://relishgames.com/forum/index.php?p=/discussion/3960/using-nintendos-characters Fri, 18 Apr 2008 16:36:44 -0400 SkyFox148 3960@/forum/index.php?p=/discussions
I had an idea of putting a non-commercial game on the web, containing some of nintendo's characters and storylines. Does anyone know if there's a law forbidding that?]]>
Portal and revolutionary games http://relishgames.com/forum/index.php?p=/discussion/2898/portal-and-revolutionary-games Thu, 08 Nov 2007 06:53:40 -0500 radishes 2898@/forum/index.php?p=/discussions
BUT I do have something to bring up. Has anyone played Portal, the new game from Valve? I thought it was revolutionary and also amazing in its complex simplicity. I played through the entire (albeit short) game in one sitting. I was momentarily addicted. The whole time I was playing it, I was thinking, "Wow, this is the first truly revolutionary game I have played... Ever!" Now, that might be overstating the game, but I did find the base idea of the game to be quite new and fun.

What other games do you feel are REVOLUTIONARY, whether through story, control and movement structure, or other ideas? I don't want to hear about games that are just good or great, but rather games that are revolutionary in a contemporary sense (not a game that revolutionized gaming 5 or 10 years ago, unless the fantastic ideas therein have not become commonplace in the current gaming environment.)]]>

For anyone who thinks platform games are dead... Oddworld showed anything is still open as long as you've got something original, great graphics and great sound.

The interaction of Oddworld is also hard to beat, the pace of the music changing as you're being chased or sneaking around.

I'm really peeved that MS bought out the Oddworld franchise and made the new ones XBox only. Bill... I will never get an XBox just to spite you for doing this!!]]>
Microsoft's new ranking algorithm http://relishgames.com/forum/index.php?p=/discussion/983/microsofts-new-ranking-algorithm Wed, 09 Nov 2005 19:17:43 -0500 Pedro LM 983@/forum/index.php?p=/discussions http://www.research.microsoft.com/mlp/trueskill/Details.aspx

Bearing the catchy name of "TrueSkill," it's a more sophisticated method of tracking players' performance than a simple "score."

I thought it was interesting because it deals with "levels of certainty" when ranking a player -- basically, the more you play, the more info the system will have to accurately rank you.

It's expected that Xbox 360 games will use this algorithm to match gamers for multiplayer sessions.]]>
